Does anyone know what some of the causes are of extreme hair lose ina 49 year old female...no histor

You may have developed Alopecia - it falls out and sometimes it just comes back. I would definitely see a doctor about it. Wigs are in - I know several women who wear cool trendy styles and they don't have any hair loss.

if your healthy and not yet going threw menopause it could be bad nutrition, are you getting every thing you need in your diet?

also, it can be from stress, and some times its genetic, women can lose hair, just as much as men, though its less common.

Stress can do it but I'm not a doctor. Sometimes hair dye or too much hairspray or chemicals. Get yourself checked out, ok?

Poor diet %26amp; nutrition to name a couple and stress.

Not suggesting anything, but that's the result from a lot of eating disorders.

I am not 49 but I was in a bad car accident a few month ago and I started losing my hair. The doctor told me it was from stress and depression so cheer up. I hope this helped...

It could be a gland disorder. Thyroid problems are common to women about that age and some of them can lead to hair loss. You may want to consider your overall health; have you lost or gained a lot of weight recently and unexplainably? Do you feel tired and sluggish? Has your complexion changed for the worse? If yes, it's likely to be a glandular disorder.
