No but good quality food instead of the economy stuff will.

We had to switch to high quality food when our breeders failed to breed and have litters. A vet recommended a certain food, we switched and lost 5 litters. And at one point we were shoveling hair up in large quantities.

NO! As the other sensible answers have stated...it can kill your kitty! The vet is the only one who can find out and say why your kitty is losing its hair. There are not only insects that can cause hair loss (mange) but fungus/infections as well. Like with humans, this can only be diagnosed and treated by a professional...i.e. Veterinarian. Your vet can do a simple quick test that will say what it is and then advise you what medicine and/or diet the kitty needs. Cats can be fatally poisoned if they are given medication intended for dogs or other animals. It could just be their summer mault and as soon as the weather starts to get cold they will stop maulting and grow their winter coat. Come the spring they`ll start to lose it again it helps if you groom them too.
