Will my newborn baby lose or keep her hair?

I had a baby 3 weeks ago and she was born with a THICK head of black hair. We're pretty shocked since both my husband and I were bald babies, and neither of us has black hair. Any experience with this?

My daughter was born with not loads but quite a bit of dark hair. Fine, I thought - my hair is brunette and my husband is dark red. A few weeks later, she started to lose her hair - in an 'old man' baldness kind of way (!) but within a couple of weeks, it all grew back through, very blonde!

Now, aged five, she has the most amazingly thick blonde hair with very subtle natural red streaks in in - people are always commenting that they pay a fortune at the salon to get a colour like that!

You'll have to wait and see what hapens with your little one - what fun!

My son was born w/ hair and then only the top part fell out so he looked like a little old man lol...it was funny, but seriously there is no telling...my sister was born w/ full head of hair and she never lost it and still has it to this day.....it just depends on the baby!

I don't think the bald/hairy thing is genetic - and babies' hair changes so mcuh in the first few weeks anyway.

my second daughter was born with quite a lot of dark hair, which has already lightened at 4 months and has mostly fallen out.

With laying down and general daily activities (!) the hair from birth is often lost a bit and changes colour a lot.

I'm sure anything could happen to your daughter's hair! :-)

My last baby was born with a head full of hair. She is now 3 1/2 months and still has it all, she never got the bald spot on the back of her head some babies get. She spent 1 1/2 wks in the NICU and all the nurses got a kick out of her hair, her bangs looked like they were already cut when she was born. At 2 wks old she had to have her first hair cut, her bangs were in her eyes.

Some babies lose their hair, some don't. And sometimes when it falls out it comes back in a different color all together.

my son had thick balck hair all over his head when he was born, then it rubbed off and left the tiniest bit at the back, now he is quite fair, but its getting darker as he gets older, which is confusing as both my partner and i have very dark hair.

my daughter was also a shock as she had thick black hair also and both myself and her farther are blonde i was a bold baby - she did in a few weeks lose her hair , i was quite scared when she started to lose it as i did'nt know why she was loseing it.

she is now 3 and has nice blonde hair which is very fine
