I am losing my hair at an alarming rate. I have to wonder if it is due to the drug Lovastatin? After i started taking it i noticed that i was losing a lot. I have had blood tests and came up with no reason for it. Help!

if your frequently straightening your hair you need to be using something to protect your hair. Got 2 B (4.00)makes a good protectant that you can use while your hair is wet to protect from the heat of the hairdryer and your straightner,
never brush your wet hair with a regular hairbrush either always use a wide tooth comb for wet hair.

I'm not sure of the reason, but it's not normal for your hair to be breaking off on any side of your head. I would either go to the hairdresser or doctor as soon as you can.
What are you using to pull your hair back into a ponytail? You need to use special bands that won't break the hair or a scrunchie. This happened to my daughter and it was the band she was using. It was only one side where the band was and that part of her hair happened to be on top. She would always put it up the same way. She switched bands and has never had a problem since. Try not to pull it up as tight. Sleeping on a satin pillow case helps. Also, try some spray on conditioner. You may have to stop putting it in a ponytail for awhile.
Rabbits constantly shed fur! There is no specific time or season for them to shed their coat.
Some rabbits have what is called a coat blow. That's when they loose a lot of fur and end up with bald spots. Other causes of fur loss could be fur or skin mites and/or some other type of illness. In that case, a trip to the vet would be called for.
Gently brush your rabbit everyday to cut down on flying fur in the house. Check your rabbits nails and trim them when needed.
It's normal for a rabbit to shed. Also make sure to give your rabbit papaya tablets at least 2 times a week. Instead of papaya tablets, you can give him/her 1/8 teaspoon of meat tenderizer in it's water once a month for at least 4 days in a row to cut down on the fur in it's stomach. Unless there is a huge amount of fur coming off of your rabbit, it's normal shedding.

Either because it is a seasonal change or because it has some sort of illness.Animals shed usually at the beginning of summer, and at the start of winter.Other than that get the animal looked at by a vet.
He's probably sick. I'd take him to the vet. It may be an allergy.
I've just begun Methotrexate for my lupus. I am on a low dose but am interested in the frequency/severity of hair loss from the drug. I have previously been through chemotherapy and am really scared of losing my hair again (I know this sounds superficial, but the methotrexate is to treat pain, not organ involvement--which is what I needed the chemo for).
Hair loss is relatively rare with smaller doses of Methotrexate treatment. However higher doses of Methotrexate can cause significant hair loss. This usually starts 3-4 weeks after the first dose of methotrexate, and may gradually worsen with subsequent doses of methotrexate.

your not supposed to lose any hair in the summer or winter. animals are but not humans. sure u can lose hair by brushing but if u r losing hair that it looks like your going balder everyday i would call ur doctor for a check-up
you do lose more in the summer, but have you tried brewers yeast? you can mix a T. with yogurt, and it really thickens your hair, because it's loaded with B vitamins. Also, I don't know if you colour your hair, but that is a huge factor in hair loss and breakage? Good luck!
People with thick hair tend to lose a lot more when brushing, etc. because their growth rate for hair is higher than most. However, if it becomes really excessive and you notice scalp issues, see a doctor.
You may be lacking protien or somthing in your diet get a good multi vitamin for women. eat plenty good protien like fish chicken and lean meats. Hope you dont loose too much hair!
I remember going through that when I was young like 20. I didnt go bald and I have plenty of hair now in fact my hair is still thick I think you lose some but it grows back. I think its normal because I see a lot of those same questions. unless theres a balding epidemic
it is normal to lose 100 strands a day....if it starts coming out in clumps you need to get to a doctor...you could have low iron count if you have not been eating right and this will cause hair loss
The only thing I know of that causes hair loss you describe is a thyroid condition.
I would go to the doctor and ask for a checkup or have them check your thyroid at the same time.

Usually, most people's hair grows a little faster in the summer, whether because there are more hours of daylight, or because it's warmer.
Fifty strands a day isn't excessive though. Are you doing anything differently now? If it's long enough for a pony, are you using an elastic or scrunchy that isn't ripping more hair out? Are you washing it more? Wet hair needs to be handled gently.

I'm in my 3rd recurrance of cancer and this time it's in my skull. Losing my hair when I had chemo was no big deal because it grows back, but now I've been told I should have radiation treatments. That can cause permanent hair loss. I've heard about a woman who used men's Rogaine to prevent hair loss when she was on radiation. Has anyone else heard of this?
My hair is still not back from radation.
The damage is more permanent than with chemo.
Just be happy to be alive, and find a good wig shop.

Try apple cider vinegar. Its all natural and will replace any vitamins and minerals you lose. It has 93 vitaimins and minerals. It will help with hair growth. Just 2 tbls. of acv in a glass of water. Unfortunately, I have not heard of Rogaine being successful. The only way it would be sucessful is if it could block the radiation from affecting your hair cells, which it can't do. I have seen some people who have had hair loss during radiation and it has grown back. I wish you the best of luck for a full recovery from your cancer!

will shampooing make the hairs lose the straignthening effect
depends on how u straightened it...If u got ur hair chemically straightened, as long as u don't wash it in the first 24 hrs u should be ok.
If it's heat straightened, like w/ a flat iron or pressing comb, it'll go right back to where it was and u'll probably need to straighten it again....
If u have black hair, even if u have it chemically relaxed, chances are it won't stay bone straight and will be slightly kinky... relaxers only loosen the natural curl pattern
I'm not sure I understand the question. When I first read it, I thought you were talking about back hair, but you're wanting to know if shampooing hair will lessen the straightening effect?
The answer is probably yes, but clean hair is pretty much a must. There are shampoo products that help, though, so your best bet will be choosing one of those.
